Why journalism? Why am I here?

Before you know me as a journalist, let me explain to you why I love to write.

As a young man, I never knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up. That baseball dream was quickly dying –– along with my talent –– and you just can’t live off a starving musician’s salary. They’re starving for a reason.

But my calling came in the form of a movie: “Almost Famous.” From then, wanting to follow in the footsteps of young William Miller at the age of 13, until now I’ve wanted to be a journalist.

So I jumped in head first, attending Colorado State University to chase my dreams of being a journalist. And now, hopefully, I’m ready to set out into the world to tell people’s stories. My mother’s glad to know I’ll earn slightly more than a starving musician.
